Grantchester star Al Weaver has revealed it was 'horrific' for him to film scenes where Leonard faced an irate mob on his way to court
Grantchester fans watched horrified this series as village curate Leonard Finch was jailed for entity gay.
Al Weaver, who stars as Leonard, says that while some prejudices possess dwindled, the issue is still relevant.
“In a way a lot has changed but in some ways a lot hasn’t,” said Al, 40.
“We see it in other places too, against black people for one, with footballers still getting racially abused. We’ve got Black Lives Matter and taking the knee, and all these things resonate with people.
“We’ve still got this hatred and injustice in the society that a lot of us find really appalling.
“You just think, why can’t people accept that everyone’s equal, that everyone deserves some love and the same opportunities as everyone else?”
But he adds: “We’re living in a second where we’ve got that passion for equality.”
