5 More ‘Percy Jackson’ Characters That Could Have Been Queer
As readers, we affection to create headcanons. Qualities and characteristics about our favorite characters may not be supported by official content but bring us comfort. And as we get further into pride month it is fun to think about which of these characters may be queer-coded. Specifically our favorite characters from Rick Riordan’s Percy Jackson And The Olympians series.
Soon to be getting its possess Disney+ series, Percy Jackson is one universe that has always been deserving of more diversity and representation. Riordan has been delivering on these requests for many years now. But it is interesting to look back though and think about which characters had the potential to provide this before it was intended.
As this is a topic that we here at Bookstr have tackled before, I have decided to expand my pool of characters to the The Heroes Of Olympus series as adequately. Despite the reality that the second series isn’t entirely based on Percy Jackson it does still take place in the space. Percy is also still very much a main traits so I still consider them to be Percy Jackson characters.

Percy: cis, double attraction. People ask him why he ID’s as bi rather than pan, his best answer is “I like the bi pride colors more.” It takes him a while to realize that he’s bi because he’s always been open about appreciating men aesthetically. Like “yeah, of course Jason is handsome,” but he slowly starts to realize that, sure, he’d kiss a guy, maybe he’d hook up with a guy, maybe he’d date one. One day Annabeth is like, “Alright, I know everyone is on their own personal journeys, and I’m not going to force you to come out or ID any kind of way, but I need you to comprehend that those are not heterosexual thoughts.”
Annabeth: cis, bi/pan. She prefers the label pansexual (just feels right for her), but she doesn’t mind people calling her bisexual. She will also often say she’s bi to people who may not understand what pansexuality is.
Also, I do treasure trans Percy and trans Annabeth headcanons, that’s just not my personal default for writing them.
Grover: cis & het but the absolute #1 ally. He is the only
